Welcome to my brand new website. Of course, this isn’t the first iteration of khanhooi.com, but it probably is the most reliable so far. Previously, I had hosted khanhooi.com on a raspberry pi. The the pi contained a full LAMP stack, and ran wordpress. A fun learning experiment, no doubt, but it suffered greatly from performance and reliability issues. Alot of these probably stemmed from the fact the Pi lay on the floor of my bedroom and was subject to being stepped on or tripped over, therefore unplugging the ethernet cable attached to it. But alot really were to do with the vulnerability of hosting yourself. One had to take care of everything, updates, security, the fact that there was no easy way to update the website beyond the wordpress interface. A Future post will contain how it works!
